Where are you planning to go on holiday this summer? Indeed, the weakness of the pound in recent times makes it even more important to choose your destination with care if you want to stick to your budget. Some countries are boasting an exchange rate that isn't making them look too attractive at the moment. But no matter which country or location you are planning to visit, there are other ways in how you can save money.

For example, one of the best ways to get started is to make sure you shop around to find the holiday you want. Don't just visit your local travel agent, look on the internet too. You can often get good deals by visiting the websites of companies that don't concentrate on having what can be an expensive high street presence.

Bear in mind also that package deals aren't always the cheapest option you can go for. If you have the time and you enjoy doing a spot of research, you can put together your own holiday by booking everything separately - your hotel, your flights and any activities you want to try.

It has already been mentioned, the importance to watch how far your currency goes in another country. But make sure you shop around for your cash too; don't assume that every provider will offer the same exchange rate on the currency you need.

And even when it's time to organise your parking space at the airport, it's still possible to save a lot of money in the process. Some people decide to stay in a hotel the night before they fly, particularly if they have one of the first flights out the following morning. It is much easier and safer to drive up to the outskirts of the airport the night before and then stay in a hotel overnight.

What's more, you can then wake up later than you would have done otherwise. You also know you only have a journey of a few minutes before you reach the airport itself, and that is far more preferable to starting off from home in the early hours.

In fact, when it comes to airport hotels and car parking, it is possible to get a room in some hotels that includes a parking space nearby too. If you were to book either of these on its own, you will often find they are more expensive than the package deal.

In short, if you do your homework before you book this year's holiday, you should find you can save a lot of money. And you will still get the holiday you want.
